Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Kasrat-e-Darood ("we", "us", "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application and this website. We are committed to keeping your data safe and using it only to provide and improve the service. By using Kasrat-e-Darood, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Kasrat-e-Darood is a community recitation-tracking application. It lets you record recitations (Surahs, Darood, Dhikr), see prayer times and the Hijri date, and track progress together within groups. The app is currently in closed/open beta on Google Play.
2. Information we collect
a. Information you provide
- Account details: your name, email address, and (for beta access) the Google account email used on the Play Store.
- Optional profile details: country, and any information you choose to add to your profile or groups.
- Beta signup form (website): name, email, Google Play email, country, device type, how you heard about us, your reason for joining, and your preferred language.
- Recitation activity: the recitations and counts you submit, your goals, streaks, and group memberships.
b. Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: with your permission, your device's location (latitude/longitude) is used only to fetch accurate prayer times and is not stored on our servers.
- Device & usage data: basic technical information such as device type, app version, and diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the service.
- Push notification token: a Firebase Cloud Messaging token, if you enable notifications.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and group memberships.
- To record your recitations and calculate personal and group totals, leaderboards, streaks, and weekly summaries.
- To show prayer times and the Islamic (Hijri) date for your location.
- To send you beta access invitations, important service emails, and (if enabled) notifications.
- To protect the service against spam, abuse, and security threats.
- To improve features based on how the app is used.
4. Location data
Location is used solely to calculate prayer times. Your coordinates are sent to the Aladhan prayer-times service to retrieve timings and are not saved to your profile or shared for advertising. You can deny or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings; the app will then fall back to a default location.
5. Third-party services
We rely on trusted third parties to operate the app. Each has its own privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Messaging) | Sign-in and push notifications |
| Aladhan API (aladhan.com) | Prayer-time calculation from coordinates |
| MongoDB Atlas | Secure database hosting |
| Vercel | Website hosting |
| Email delivery (SMTP) | Sending account & beta emails |
| Google Play | App distribution and beta testing |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
6. Data sharing
Information you add to a group (for example your display name and recitation totals) is visible to other members of that group and may appear on group leaderboards and activity feeds. You can use anonymous mode where available. We otherwise share data only with the service providers listed above, or when required by law.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and recitation data for as long as your account is active. Records are soft-deleted (retained briefly, then removed) so totals stay consistent. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 10).
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), token-based authentication, access controls, and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.
9. Children's privacy
Kasrat-e-Darood is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Your rights & choices
- Access & correction: view or update your profile information in the app.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and data by emailing us.
- Permissions: control location and notification permissions in your device settings.
- Email preferences: unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link provided.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
